DDGC Reading Group: Isabella Hammad

The DDGC collective is hosting an ongoing reading group featuring texts that help us think with artists and academics with vital insights about Palestine. The next installment of the group will feature Isabella Hammad’s Enter Ghost (2024) and Recognizing the Stranger: On Palestine and Narrative (2024). We will meet monthly on Wednesdays at 10am, Pacific Time.

The official description for Enter Ghost can be found here: https://bookshop.org/p/books/enter-ghost-isabella-hammad/feecc5f6d4519642

Recognizing the Stranger is based upon the Edward W. Said Memorial Lecture Hammad gave in late September 2023 at Columbia University, a recording of which can be found on YouTube here. The official description of the book, which expands on the lecture, can be found here: https://bookshop.org/p/books/recognizing-the-stranger-on-palestine-and-narrative-isabella-hammad/09bd96236fb12330

The reading group will meet online. Each participant will find their own way to a copy of the books. They are available through your public and institutional libraries, available for purchase through your independent bookstore, and in other venues. There is also the option to listen to the audiobook for Enter Ghost (also available through public libraries and for purchase). If you have a hard time finding a copy of the books, reach out to one of the organizers.

In order to sign up for the reading group, fill out the form below. Space will be limited and advanced registration is required. Please register below by October 1, 2025.
